Structural Foundations and Evolutionary Trajectories of Educational Equity and Social Justice

Achieving educational equity and social justice remains a cornerstone of sustainable human development, yet scholarly literature on these dynamics remains highly fragmented across diverse methodological and disciplinary siloes. This study presents a systematic bibliometric mapping of the global scientific output on educational equity and social justice indexed in Scopus, tracing its evolution, structural collaboration networks, thematic shifts, and intellectual core. Utilizing a robust quantitative bibliometric framework, we analyzed publication trajectories, co-authorship dynamics, keyword co-occurrence clusters using Louvain network algorithms, and thematic evolution plots across a longitudinal dataset. The findings demonstrate that scientific production follows a classical S-shaped logistic growth model (R2 = 0.963), projected to reach its peak annual growth rate around 2033.6. The intellectual pipeline is predominantly anchored by major Anglo-American research hubs, led by the United States, alongside a rapid recent acceleration from China. Keyword evolution reveals a fundamental paradigm shift from foundational social-demographic descriptors (pre-2010) toward critical equity frameworks, health disparities, and digital divide dynamics post-2018. The domain exhibits vibrant structural vitality but suffers from geographic and methodological fragmentation. Bridging localized educational equity initiatives with multi-scalar policy frameworks constitutes the primary strategic frontier for future research.
