Artificial Intelligence as a Factor of Agricultural System Resilience: A Systematic Review

Morocco, where agriculture is a crucial sector, has entered a critical phase after six consecutive years of unprecedented drought. Rising temperatures and the disruption of rainfall patterns will directly impact agriculture by deepening water deficits. Faced with challenges related to water scarcity in particular, Moroccan agriculture continues to demonstrate foolproof resilience, promising solid prospects for the agricultural system and affirming its role as a locomotive of national economic growth. Many adaptation options to limit the impacts on agricultural businesses including research and development of agricultural technologies, adoption of different AI technologies as a solution to improve their competitiveness, reduce costs, save time, improve customer service or manage the risks that result. The objective of this article is to present a systematic review on the practices of artificial intelligence, its relationship with the resilience of agricultural businesses, the difficulties that lie in the adoption of its practices at the international level, as well as informed recommendations to promote awareness among decision-makers of the technological tools that will enable them to discuss possible developments in their companies and that could foster their resilience.
